A Superdata report makes it clear that revenues from micro-payments not only in FIFA 19, but in many other games, have declined significantly.
Season after season, Ultimate Team is the chicken of the golden eggs of Electronic Arts, since it is a present way in all its sports franchises, but especially profitable it is in the case of FIFA. However, in this 2018 that trend has fallen in a tremendous way, since the revenues of the FIFA 19 Ultimate Team have only grown 1% compared to those of FIFA 18 in the same period of time.
What is the reason for this decline?
According to the Superdata report, it is surprising that the very low 1% growth, but more so is the abysmal difference with what the Ultimate Team grew in FIFA 18 with respect to FIFA 17, and is nothing less than 25%. However, it does not make clear what may be the reasons for this tremendous decline in growth, although it is cited as possible the dominance in sales of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Fortnite has also been a game that has I have taken a lot of players’ expenses in micropayments, which can´t be ruled out as another reason. One of them is Destiny 2, whose revenues from additional content have fallen by 63%, while that percentage remains at 33% for Rainbow Six Siege, which even so, is above the expectations of Ubisoft.
We must finish talking about two deliveries of very popular franchises launched this autumn, and that have sold far away from what was expected, for very different reasons. They are, as we can imagine, Battlefield 5 and Fallout 76, the first with a very cold reception, while the second has become an inexhaustible source of controversy since its launch.
